CHELSIO DELIVERS UNIFIED WIRE FOR WINDOWS SERVER 2008
All-in-One 10GbE Adapters Support NIC, TOE, iSCSI and Clustering On Windows 2008 Servers For Enterprise Data Center And High Performance Computing Environments
SUNNYVALE, CA – November 5, 2008 –Chelsio Communications, Inc., the leading provider of 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) adapters and ASIC solutions, today announced its high performance Unified Wire adapters now fully support MicrosoftВ® Windows Server 2008, enabling stateless NIC, TOE, iSCSI and clustering for data center and high performance computing (HPC) environments running Windows Server 2008.
Chelsio has added Windows Server 2008 support for MicrosoftВ® Network Direct, Microsoft Winsock Direct (WSD) and Microsoft TCP Chimney. Network Direct is a new low-latency RDMA network API that is part of Windows HPC Server 2008. Winsock Direct is Microsoft’s API for direct communication between user space applications. WSD bypasses the operating system and allows for a lower latency interface. It is primarily used for clustering and HPC applications.
With Microsoft TCP Chimney support, Chelsio’s adapters offer TCP/IP network protocol processing and data copying from the server system, reducing CPU utilization and memory subsystem load. By improving server efficiency, TCP Chimney provides significant savings in datacenter operating costs.
Chelsio offers a comprehensive network connectivity solution for the Windows Server platform, said Ward Ralston, group product manager, Windows Server division of Microsoft. In combination with Chelsio’s adapters, a Windows-based server can now be deployed in a variety of storage, networking, or clustering oriented applications.
